Dunas De Bani

The wonderful landscape of Las Dunas de Baní is a national treasure of the Dominican Republic, thanks to its high mountains of fine white sand and the sun as warm as in few places in the country. This scientific reserve, which responds to the original name of Félix Servio Ducoudray Natural Monument, is considered one of the most beautiful natural spaces on the island.

The sands of these dunes were generated by a natural phenomenon that began in the Pleistocene epoch and are mainly composed of quartz and feldspar from the sediments dragged by the Arroyo Bahía. These are produced by the action of the currents of the Caribbean Sea and the wind, taking care of accumulating the sand, thus forming the spectacular dunes that exist in the protected area.
